This year’s Julien Dubuque International Film Festival fundraising gala will be a groovy good time. “Peace, Love & JDIFF,” a nod to the late 1960s and early 1970s, is set for Saturday, Feb. 8. The fourth annual event will be held at a new venue this year, the Hotel Julien Dubuque Grande Ballroom. It will feature a silent and live auction, as well as a plated dinner. Cocktail hour will be from 6 to 7 p.m., and dinner begins at 7. The Julien Dubuque International Film Festival, set for Wednesday to Sunday, April 24-28 in downtown Dubuque, has extended the festivities to cover five days! “We needed another day to fit in all the great panels, screenings, and events we have planned,” said Susan Gorrell, executive director of the festival. More than 20 features, 20 documentaries and 70 shorts were named Official Selections this year and will be screened at 10 venues in downtown Dubuque. Travel Back in Time at Julien Dubuque International Film Festival Annual Gala
The event will reminisce on the romance and glamour of the fabulous forties.
The Julien Dubuque International Film Festival will once again put the “fun” in fundraising with its third annual gala, set for Saturday, February 16 in the Harbor Room at Diamond Jo Casino. “As Time Goes By: A JDIFF Hollywood Night” invites you to walk back through the romance and glamour of the fabulous forties with a nod to Casablanca’s Rick’s Café along the way. The suggested attire will be 1940’s vintage glam – reminiscent of the Bogart, Bergman and Bacall era. The event will include a silent auction, live auction, and plated dinner. The Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism’s film Los Lecheros will be featured with a special screening at the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival. The film will be shown at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at the Dubuque Museum of Art. Before the film at noon, there will be a chance for mingling with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. It’s almost here! Each day of the Julien Dubuque Film Festival offers a variety of film, music, and entertainment. The sixth annual festival, set for April 20-23 in downtown Dubuque, will show films from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily (with a few other screenings slated until 10 p.m.), and feature nightly events. We’ve heard members of the Runde Sales Staff talking about which films they want to see. Dubuque’s Film Festival is just a couple weeks away! We are proud to say that Runde Auto Group has been a major sponsor from the start of the festival back in 2012. More than 35 films will be screened Thursday-Sunday, April 23-26. Venues include Stan’s Coffeehouse, Vinny Vannuchi’s, Holiday Inn Rooms 1, 2, and 3, Five Flags Orpheum, Five Flags Majestic, Dubuque Museum of Art, National Mississippi River Museum, Eronel, and Platinum Insurance. There will be fewer films and venues than there were in previous years – a decision that first-year executive director Susan Gorrell said will improve the festival experience, making it easier for attendees to plan a festival viewing schedule. Last year, the folks behind the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival proved that they know how to entertain and that was before they unleashed the Julien Block Party. So, without a doubt, you do not want to miss the Block Party, titled “Gettin’ Down in the District”. They’re throwing the block party (in collaboration with The Millwork District and Voices from the Warehouse) in the Dubuque Millwork District on 10th street! It’s been over a month now since the 2012 Julien Dubuque International Film Festival had its impressive inaugural showing. With great success of this inaugural film fest in Dubuque Iowa, the 2013 Festival board has already been put together and they are setting things in motion for next year’s big show. The official dates for the 2013 festival are Thursday, April 4th through Sunday, April 7th. No word on participating venues or films planning to be screened as of yet.
