Runde Auto Group has been a major sponsor of JDIFF from the start. For more information about the film festival, visit JulienFilmFest.com. This year’s Julien Dubuque International Film Festival is coming to your living room. The 2020 festival, which was originally postponed due to COVID-19, will now be a virtual event. It was a decision that Executive Director Susan Gorrell and the JDIFF Board of Directors did not make lightly. “The health and safety of everyone – attendees, volunteers, vendors, venue staff and filmmakers – takes precedence,” said Brian Cooper, JDIFF board president. “We want to make the best of the situation with a virtual festival soon and a bigger event next year.” Next year’s film festival, set for April 18-25, 2021, will span more days and include both 2020 and 2021 Official Selections. This year’s Julien Dubuque International Film Festival fundraising gala will be a groovy good time. “Peace, Love & JDIFF,” a nod to the late 1960s and early 1970s, is set for Saturday, Feb. 8. The fourth annual event will be held at a new venue this year, the Hotel Julien Dubuque Grande Ballroom. It will feature a silent and live auction, as well as a plated dinner. Cocktail hour will be from 6 to 7 p.m., and dinner begins at 7. The suggested attire is funky, colorful, and fun – reminiscent of Woodstock era. “Who says fundraising events have to be stuffy and formal?” said Susan Gorrell, executive director of the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival. “We want this event to capture the spirit of the festival itself: casual, [...]
The Julien Dubuque International Film Festival, set for Wednesday to Sunday, April 24-28 in downtown Dubuque, has extended the festivities to cover five days! “We needed another day to fit in all the great panels, screenings, and events we have planned,” said Susan Gorrell, executive director of the festival. More than 20 features, 20 documentaries and 70 shorts were named Official Selections this year and will be screened at 10 venues in downtown Dubuque. There were over 700 submissions from over 50 countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, Cuba, New Zealand, and more. It’s almost here! Each day of the Julien Dubuque Film Festival offers a variety of film, music, and entertainment. The sixth annual festival, set for April 20-23 in downtown Dubuque, will show films from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily (with a few other screenings slated until 10 p.m.), and feature nightly events.  We’ve heard members of the Runde Sales Staff talking about which films they want to see.  Everyone who works here at Runde’s seems excited about this year’s offerings. “We have a variety of events this year which means people of all ages and interests can find something to do,” said Susan Gorrell, executive director of the festival. “The events, plus the filmmakers here from all over the world, make this a unique event you don’t want to miss.” Thursday, April 20
