Major automakers are funneling millions of dollars into building electric vehicles and an infrastructure to charge them, but many drivers are still hesitant to make the switch from the traditional gas-powered vehicles they have driven all their lives to a battery-powered ride. They have questions about range, charging, and driving long distances, as well as confusion about EV concepts like regen paddles, one-pedal driving, and more. Who better to ask these questions, than electric vehicle owners themselves? In this series, we will be sharing the experiences of Runde customers who have made the transition to being an EV owner. Meet Jacob Puls, of East Dubuque, who recently leased his first electric vehicle, a 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV. As a salesperson at Runde Chevrolet, Jacob has sold his fair share of electric vehicles, but had yet to own one. “In all honesty, I talked my brother into it (his twin brother is Jared Puls, whose EV story [...]

Jared Puls is no stranger to the inner workings of Runde Auto Group. He has worked part-time in the past at Runde Chevrolet in East Dubuque, and has quite a few family connections to the business. Jared is the great grandson of founder Alfred Runde, thus a fourth generation Runde. He’s also the nephew of the owners of Runde Auto Group; twin brother of Tim Runde’s sales assistant, Jacob Puls; and son of Runde IT professional, Jim Puls. Before starting his full-time career at Runde’s, he was working as an Internal Auditor for GreenState Credit Union. He is excited for the new challenge. “I want the opportunity to help people find a vehicle that best fits their needs,” Jared said. “I believe buying a vehicle can be an intimidating experience, [...]

This is the first installment of our #RundeMomReviews series. If you would like to contribute a vehicle review, email marketing@rundeautogroup.com. Jessica and Jacob Puls‘ 2019 GMC Terrain has the safety and tech features they love, along with a smooth ride and room for their one-year-old son Bo’s car seat. Don’t just take our word for it – here’s Jessica’s new GMC Terrain review: This has been the perfect starter SUV for our small family. A huge fear of mine is passing someone in their blind spot. My favorite thing about the vehicle is the safety measures including blind side alert for myself (but I also love when other cars have this feature so I know they are alerted when I am driving [...]
Brian Hansen, better known as “Chopper,” was all smiles today when he left Runde Chevrolet in East Dubuque! He scored a great deal on a 2017 Chevy Equinox Premier AWD from salesperson Corissa Frederick. Plus, he was Corissa’s first sale! “She was a great gal to work with,” Brian said. “Corissa’s the bomb.” Brian, who lives in East Dubuque, called a few days ago to inquire about how spacious the Equinox was. “I’ve always driven Chevy’s,” he said. “I like dealing with Runde’s and I heard good things about the Equinox. I liked that it had a six-cylinder and I love the interior.” When he isn’t in his daily driver, Brian ‘Chopper’ Hansen loves riding his motorcycle, a 2017 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Special. He works at the Rock [...]
Rob Biggin remembers when he got his first vehicle – a Chevrolet Beretta from Runde PreDriven – in the early 1990s. He has since purchased more than 10 vehicles from Runde Auto Group, and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. “I’ve always enjoyed buying them from Runde’s,” he said. Rob picked up his latest vehicle, a white Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 4WD Crew Cab, today at Runde Chevrolet near Dubuque. It is his third Silverado. “I just like trucks,” he said. “I like driving up higher and it’s nice to have four-wheel drive and as a homeowner, to have a box to haul things or to help friends.” Rob Biggin hangs his hat and buy his gas in Dubuque and is a big fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. His salesperson is Tim Runde. “He has [...]
Ken Dunkel picked up a new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 4WD LTZ Crew Cab from Runde Auto Group today. The Dyersville, IA resident is no stranger to Chevy trucks. “I’ve had ten Silverado trucks and I’ve always had light grey,” he said. “Once I went to dark grey and I’m back to light grey. It’s just a preference.” He will use the vehicle for farming. Ken Dunkel is a return customer to Runde Auto Group. His salesperson was Shannon Mulrooney at Runde Chevrolet in East Dubuque, IL. “Shannon was wonderful,” Ken said. “He’s outstanding and kept me informed.”
Carole Dodson has already made her new 2015 Equinox all-wheel-drive LTZ her own. We got a chance to ask her a few questions about her new ride for the Runde Blog before she drove home happy. She installed a ladybug flower design license plate frame before it even left the Runde Auto Group lot this morning. It’s a touch she has added to her vehicles for years, “They don’t make them anymore, and I really like it,” she said. This was the first vehicle Carole and her husband Herman, of Darlington, Wis., have purchased from Runde’s. “We had an Equinox, but it was white,” Carole said. “It’s a good ride and we like the looks.” She plans to take good care of her new crystal [...]
Bill and Joslyn Seefeldt from Milton, WI (just north of Janesville) drove a couple hours to buy their new Chevy Sonic mostly because of Runde Auto Group’s dedication to customer service. “We contacted several dealers in our neighborhood and they said it would be too hard to get the car or it wouldn’t be efficient for them to get the exchange,” Bill said. The couple got what they wanted at Runde’s: a new Chevy Sonic LT, with a turbocharged engine. The hatchback vehicle will be used as a work car for Joslyn, who is a farrier (which is a specialist in equine hoof care, including the trimming and balancing of horses’ hooves and the placing of shoes on their hooves). “I wanted something that was very fuel efficient and the new Chevy Sonic will be a work car for me,” Joslyn said. “I drove one over the winter when my truck was laid up and [...]
Runde Chevrolet got a blast from the past when Bob Kinsella pulled into the lot in his 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS with a 396. The vehicle, with its frost green exterior and dark green vinyl top and interior, was purchased from Paul Runde at Runde Chevrolet back in 1968. The cost for the special order at the time was just $4,165.90. Its original receipt itemizes features the vehicle included, like a clock for $15, the vinyl top for $89, the rear window defroster for $22 and bucket seats for $121. The 375 horsepower 396 engine, which [...]
Jacob Voss from East Dubuque recently joined up with Runde Auto Group where he’s been making a great impression on his customers and colleagues. Jacob is a native of this area so he fits right in here at Runde Chevrolet and he’s pretty familiar with the local community. He may be young, but his mind and heart are committed to making his customers have the best car buying experience. Where are you from? Born and raised in East Dubuque… Lived there my whole life but moved around a few places within the city. How many houses have you lived in? Probably about 4 or 5. How old are you? 19, going to be 20 by the end of April. Do you have any brothers or sisters? I have 2 younger brothers and an older sister. We’re all within about a year and a half apart. One brother is 17, the [...]
Needless to say that this new design for the new Ford Fusion has been very well received at the Chicago Auto Show this week and people’s comments have been very favorable toward it. The video below was shot by Runde Auto Group — The noise in the background of the vid was coming from the new Shelby Mustang presentation across the room and we’ll post the video of that soon. People were definitely all a-buzz about the Shelby, but this new Fusion is definitely gorgeous. The new Ford Fusion design is only about 1 inch longer and 1/2 inch wider than the previous Fusion, but it looks a lot longer than its predecessor mainly due to an extended wheelbase that’s almost 5 inches longer than the 2012 version. A new inline 4-cylinder 1.6 Liter EcoBoost engine will be available on the all-new Fusion. And this optional turbo engine will produce 179 horsepower and 172 lb-ft [...]
Go to the Gary’s Graffiti Nights Car Show and you will see people who share a passion for the classics glowing and having a great time as they share stories and chit chat with fellow enthusiasts. The show started back in the early 1980’s by a man named Gary Duster of Dubuque, IA. Gary is a classics fan who wanted to share his love of the classics with the Tri-State community. As of late, the show has moved to East Dubuque, IL where it seems to have found a perfect home. We got a hold of George Young, former owner of George & Dales restaurant and current Mayor of East Dubuque. With the help of his son and the support of the community, George gets things in order [...]

One of our relatively recent additions to the Runde team is Mariah Diedrich. We just about caused mass mayhem by dragging her away from her phone, but Mariah gladly took a few moments to allow us to get to know her a little better. How long have you worked for Runde’s and what do you do here? Um, it’ll be going on a year. I can’t remember if I was hired in August or September. I work in the accounting department and do accounts payable. What’s the best thing about your job? The people I work with. Except for Becky. We understand. What is the worst thing about your job? Being interviewed by those annoying blog people. Just kidding … I’d probably have to say Becky. Do you have a favorite spot in the Tri-State area? I live in Shullsburg about 40 minutes away in Wisconsin, so it’s like [...]
If you follow the Runde Blog, you may recall a story that we ran back in the spring of this year about Mardy Gilyard, who purchased a new 2010 Camaro SS from Runde Chevrolet. At that time, he had finished up at the University of Cincinnati, where he starred as a wide receiver and kick returner. He was on his way to the NFL Draft Combine where he would show NFL scouts just what he was made of. Everyone in Cincinnati and his home state of Florida already knew that Mardy was a world-class athlete and at the NFL Combine (an invite-only event) back in February, he put his talent on display for the rest of the world to see. The St. Louis Rams took particular notice of him and, after they took Sam Bradford as the [...]
I’m sure you’ve heard of Ted Williams, but have you heard of Jenna Schneider? No one has hit for a .400 batting average in the Major Leagues since Ted Williams last did it in 1941. In the 69 years since that time, George Brett probably came the closest to hitting .400 over the course of a whole season when he averaged .390 back in 1980. Heck, it seems like the only thing more out of reach in baseball than hitting .400 would be the Cubs getting to or winning the World Series. (That is unless Ryne Sandberg comes back as a player/manager and then I’d have to say that the World Series would be a sure thing for the Cubbies). If achieving a .400 batting average seems extremely improbable, then would would .500 be. And what does all this have to do with Runde’s? Well, one of our summer workers, Jenna Schneider, of East Dubuque came back to [...]
Today we had the pleasure of getting to know a family who recently bought a Chrysler Town & Country van from us. Sharon, Darlene, Alex, Emily and Gavin took a few moments to share their experience with us. We give you … the Riesselman Family. How did you find Runde Auto Group and this Chrysler Town & Country? We found you guys on the internet. Your website was very easy to navigate and we easily found what we wanted. I really like how you can narrow by the year, model and mileage, it makes it really easy to find what you are looking for. Where is the first place you’ll take your new Chrysler Town & Country van? Darlene: Home to see [...]
We sat down this morning and had a quick chat with the highly energetic and ever-ambitious Brandon Hanger. Brandon has been working nights at Runde Chevrolet for the past four years (He comes in with his mom and dad after hours and helps with facility maintenance). We were so impressed with his professional drive that we immediately added him to our sales staff. He wound up selling four new cars today and he’s already decided to put the commission money away for his retirement. We seriously need to clone this kid.
How did you find Runde Auto Group and this particular vehicle? Through Al Kloft. I told him what I was looking for and he went and found it for me. I bought a Trailblazer and my brother bought a vehicle from Al not too long ago too. Why did you decide to purchase it here? Because I found what I liked and because I’ve known Al for a long time. He’s a family friend so I trusted him. And I liked it so I said yeah I’d buy it. Where is the first place you’ll take your new car? I don’t know … probably work. Really? Yeah I have have work at 9 o’clock tonight. Where do you work at? At The Barn in Sherrill Iowa — it’s a bar and a restaurant up there. I used to go up to the barn a long time ago — we [...]
TESTIMONIALS FROM RUNDE’S CUSTOMERS We are very very pleased with our Chevy Traverse that we recently purchased from Runde Auto Group. Thank you for making it possible when we came to see you!! I also want you to know how impressed we are with Runde’s! Awesome people and awesome service! Keep it up! Take care! Ed Whitacre, the CEO of General Motors, announced that GM has paid back all of the borrowed money in full to the government with interest. This gigantic announcement demonstrates a level of confidence within the company that has surfaced mainly due to a slimmed down product line, a more refined company focus, and exciting new products like the Chevy Equinox, the Chevy Camaro, and the Buick LaCrosse that are selling almost as quickly as they arrive on dealers’ lots. With this move, they are basically saying that they wholeheartedly believe GM is now on the right track to profitability. And here at Runde Auto Group, we know without-a-doubt that GM is back on track and ready for the road ahead. The tank is full, the engine is humming, and the GPS is set … Destination … Success. It’s full speed ahead for Chevrolet, Buick and GMC.
Goog411 is definitely the new rage We used to have a trainer from GM that would go around to various dealerships in the area and teach the salespeople how to do better vehicle walk-arounds and essentially sell more cars in the process. Every time he was on the verge of touching on a unique feature of a car, he would foreshadow it with the phrase, “OK, now I’m going to put some money in your pocket.” This usually meant that the car had a unique key feature that no other competitor had on their vehicles and it was going to help you sell more cars and thus — the money in the pocket thing. Now I’m going to put some money in your pocket. Are you sick of getting charged beaucoup $$$ every time you dial 411 or Directory Assistance to get a phone number when you’re on the go. Not everyone has [...]
I was up at the Runde PreDriven store the other day and I was informed by one of the salesmen that Sammy Hagar was in the house. I thought, ”What an opportunity … we can get a interview with Sammy for the blog … I wonder what he’s looking to purchase? A Camaro? A Vette?” I asked where he was. Chris pointed to Johnny Kramer, who works up at that store and was sportin’ a new hairdo. It wasn’t the actual Red Rocker, but it was an uncanny resemblance. I took some quick photos of Johnny … errr, I mean Sammy Hagar (You may recall that Johnny was featured previous in a Runde Auto Chat interview back in 2009) and then I went about my business. A few minutes later there was a big [...]

We “vahnt” your blood … to be donated to the East Dubuque Community Blood Drive April 16th at the East Dubuque High School cafeteria. This is an event that Runde Auto Group fully supports. If you’re in the Tri-State area, why not take an hour out of your day help potentially save a life? Hope to see you at the East Dubuque Community Blood Drive! We found this cool video. About 2 minutes into it, the video shows what life is like for a boy with aplastic anemia both before and after a blood transfusion. So if you think you can’t make a difference, then watch the last couple minutes of this and think again.
