Kai Spande, the Corvette plant manager in Bowling Green, Kentucky spoke Friday at the University of Northern Iowa! James Mahoney, a salesperson at Runde Chevrolet in East Dubuque, attended the event with members of the Key City Corvette Club. “It was really cool,” James said. “He gave us some insight on the factory and while he couldn’t give us too many details, he said they will be switching up things on how they build the 2018 vehicles. They will be shutting down the factory for a little bit to re-vamp it.” The event attracted about 50 people, many of whom arrived in Corvettes. Corvette clubs from Cedar Falls, Dubuque, and Cedar Rapids were invited, but the rainy weather kept some of the sports cars in garages. “The drive over there would have been better if the rain would have stayed away,” James said. “But you can’t complain when you are driving a Corvette!” Kai [...]
Alan Schorr recently purchased a used Corvette from Runde Auto Group. The trouble is he lives 3,000 miles away. If you wanted to go on a nice, long drive, that’s a straight 60 hour non-stop drive from our PreDriven store in Hazel Green, WI. It wasn’t the frigid climate that got this Alaskan away from home to come to the states. It was fate, met with a ridiculously hot deal that not even 3,000 miles could stand in the way of. Alan, I hear you had quite the trip to get here? I live in Juneau, Alaska. Alaska is a big place, we live in a part of Alaska that’s actually close to the United States at just 1,100 miles north of the border. How was the flight? I took three planes to get here. I flew from Alaska to Seattle then from Seattle to Chicago and another flight from Chicago to Dubuque. [...]
2011 officially marks the 100th year for Chevrolet and when you stop to think about it, 100 years of Chevrolet is quite a bit of time for any business to stay up and running. But boy, is it running smooth. Through the years Chevrolet has become a leader in the automotive industry and only shows signs of growing stronger. Lets take a look back to see how it all started. GM was started by automotive marketer William C. Durant in 1908. Through the years Durant took notice of the famous racer, Louis Chevrolet, as he set the land-speed record in 1905 for reaching 111 MPH in a special open race car. Durant hired Chevrolet to do big races and promotional drives for his company. Being cast [...]
There was a new face that appeared wearing a Runde shirt recently. No this was not just an extremely loyal customer who loved wearing Runde garments … his name was Brian Pinch. And we seized up the opportunity to interview our newest employee. What do you do here at Runde’s? I’m a sales consultant here for new Chevy vehicles. How long have you worked here? I’ve been here just a few weeks now. Oh and I also can assist customers in leasing Chevy vehicles too. Are you originally from the area? I’m originally from Dubuque and lived here most of my life. I lived in Cedar Rapids until fourth grade. What is your best experience at Runde’s to date? My best experience really is just working with management and having other employees point me in the right direction. Everyone is very helpful and has the great characteristics of good customer service. What are your past times / [...]

Who doesn’t have a soft spot for powerhouse cars or sports cars as they’re commonly referred to. We all caught a laugh or two watching the Tonight Show with Jay Leno through the years. Most of us know that he has his own shop and is a vehicle enthusiast. Less of us know that he loves Corvette’s and that the lucky guy has the first ever made ZR1 Corvette. Out of all of the foreign and powerhouse cars Jay has, he always seems to praise Chevy and keeps commenting on how reliable and great they are. This guy really knows his stuff about the automotive industry, I was really impressed to hear him list off horse powers, features and specifics of different vehicles on the spot. There you have it, from the man behind the laughs that knows his stuff: Corvette seems to be the way to go, and if you’d like [...]

This past week we had the pleasure of having a customer come in who owns this beautiful 1968 Chevy Camaro. It’s not too often that you see a Camaro of this year in such good shape. While he was here, we let him check out the new 2010 Camaro to get a sense of what the grandchild of his car looks like and how it handles. We all know that cars can’t talk without the aid of Hollywood’s magic. However, I wonder what the conversation would be like if these two could have an actual car-to-car verbal exchange. Take a look at these two together:
The announcement of the Corvette Centennial concept car at the Chicago Auto Show, introduced by GM, has received various opinions here at Runde. When employees were asked what their opinion was about the concept car there was emotion in the air. Some were taken back, like Al Dellabella of Runde Buick, who said “That looks like something from the 60’s with the front fender and the torpedo rear window.” Others were shocked by the build. They call it a concept car for a reason…” The car is modeled from the original 1959 Stingray racer and will be featured in the upcoming movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which will be released on June 26th. The Corvette will be the character Sideswipe from the movie (shown below). There is no plan of the [...]
