Dad Always Said: “Check Your Oil!”
Now would it surprise you to know that your owner’s manual recommends that you check your engine oil every time you fill up with gas? I think that would surprise a lot of locals. Of course we must remember the manufacturers have been including that in the manuals since the advent of owner’s manuals. Vehicles have gotten much more technologically advanced over time and the importance of checking your oil frequently may have dissipated to some extent, but still we’re talking about your vehicle’s engine and that’s really nothing to mess around with or take for granted. So when it comes time for an oil change, it’s imperative that you take your car to someone who knows what they’re doing and cares about your vehicle’s welfare.
We’ll Take Good Care of Your Vehicle
Today we’re here to go over the advantages of bringing your vehicle to Runde Chevrolet for an oil change. At Runde Chevrolet, an oil change is actually so much more because of all the preliminary checks that our technician will perform during their multipoint inspection. Our primary goal is to make sure that your vehicle is properly maintained and that you’re 100% satisfied with the service we provide. Ultimately we know that if we take good care of your vehicle, then your vehicle will take good care of you.
Thorough Vehicle Inspections
The first thing Runde’s will do during the oil change process is inspect the lights on the car. We’re going to make sure there are no warnin
g lights on in the car. Next we’ll check your wiper blades as well as your exterior lights and make sure that all your lights are working from your headlights to your brake & reverse lights to your turn signal lights. We’ll also check the levels of your washer fluid, brake fluid and coolant.
We’ve Got You Covered
Then our technician will move to under the hood and check your car or truck’s oil and make sure the level is good and confirm that your vehicle is not using oil. From there we’ll check your filter to see how much life is remaining and to make sure there isn’t any dirt build-up, holes, leaves, etc. This is the point where our technician will raise up your vehicle on the hydraulic lift and change the oil. Our service tech will remove the drain plug and start draining the oil. Then while the oil is flowing into the receptacle, our mechanic will go around your vehicle and check your tire pressures. Once the oil has fully drained, we’ll put fresh oil in and then reset your vehicle’s oil life monitoring system back to 100%.
Chevrolet vehicles have been equipped with the oil life monitoring system for over 10 years now. This system guides the customer to let them know when it’s time to change their oil and filter. It actually monitors engine use, engine temperatures, and miles driven to let you know when your oil will start to break down and lose its viscosity.
If you’re ever in question about when to change your oil, refer to the oil life monitoring system in your car … it won’t steer you wrong. But if you are a very low-mile driver, please remember that you still need to change your oil at least once a year – even if your car’s monitoring system doesn’t prompt you to change it because oil will break down over time even if your vehicle is not in use.
Our Certified Service experts are trained on how your vehicle uses and monitors its oil. Choosing the proper grade of oil is a critical step in engine maintenance and for something as inexpensive as an oil change, you definitely want someone who knows what they’re doing as will have a direct effect on the longevity of your engine.
