December 22nd, 2008 was a day that will forever be remembered by a family in Cedar Rapids. Their lives were changed by the summer floods. They lost a lot in that disaster. But last Monday, an employee of the Archdiocese of Dubuque did a very selfless deed. She had recently gotten married. She and her husband each had their own house, which means 2 sets of everything. She decided to donate her furniture to a family that was unfortunate enough to lose most of their belongings in the flood.
So on the Monday before Christmas Gene Foust, a former Runde employee who is now employed by the Archdiocese, borrowed our Community Service vehicle to deliver the furniture to the family in Cedar Rapids. Gene works for the Archdiocese in the building and ground maintenance department and he’s still a favorite with a lot of Runde employees.
I asked him how his experience with the Community Service vehicle went. He was so happy with how it turned out. The lift made it much easier to load and unload the furniture, and it was just the right size for the amount of furniture they had to deliver. He hopes they will get to use it again for projects in the future.
Runde Auto Group is so happy they could help Gene and the Archdiocese deliver such a generous gift to that family. What a fabulous Christmas present that made!
The world could definitely use more people like Gene Foust in it.
