Marty Frank: Cubs Fan… Runde Man

Cubs fan Marty Frank of Dubuque

Marty Frank

Marty Frank is first and foremost a Cubs fan.  He’s also one of the truly dedicated worker who spends his days prepping and cleaning all of the new vehicles that drive off the Runde Chevrolet lot here in East Dubuque. We interrupted Marty’s work for a few minutes to have him answer a couple of our questions.

RAC: What do you do here at Runde’s?

Lenny - Brewers fan

Lenny

MF: I work in the wash rack cleaning up all of the new cars, keeping Lenny out of trouble, and trying to convert him to being a Cubs fan.

How long have you worked here?

Three years and still going.

What is your favorite part about working here?

Any time they bring in pizza for us or put together potluck dinners and that kind of stuff, the food is just so good.

Are you originally from the area?

Yeah, but I moved here from Santa Cruz, CA when I was 3

Warm California to the cold, frigid, icy Tri-States? What made your family move up here?

Well my father passed away and my grandparents live up here, so my mom and I moved up here to be with them.

Do you have a family of your own?

Yeah, I am married and have a son.

What is his name? Ethan and he is 9 years old.

Do you have any hobbies or favorite past times?

Well I play the drums in my free time and I really enjoy playing disc golf.

Disc golf? Marty Frank playing frisbee golf

Yeah, I even have my own basket cemented in the middle of my back yard.

Where do you like to play disc golf?

Dubuque actually has a course over near Wahlert in Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Oh yeah, I know where that is.  I’ve actually played on it a couple times — the course is very nicely sculpted into the landscape.  Where is your favorite place to eat here in the Tri-states?

I like taking my wife to Kalmes’s Restaurant, down on Central.

What is good to eat there?

They have good fried chicken and delicious burgers, that kind of stuff.

Brewers or Cubs?
Definitely a Cubs fan
Oreos or Chips Ahoy?
Chips Ahoy

Picard or Kirk?

Definitely Picard — The Next Generation

Snap-on or Matco Tools?

Oh that’s a tough one… I am going to have to say Matco.

Is the glass half empty, or half full?

It depends on what’s in the glass and how thirsty I am.

What was your first car?

My first car was a black 1988 Toyota Camry.

If you could be any car, what would it be?

I would have to say a Corvette Z06, not the ZR1 or anything fancy like that.

So what color would you be?

Red, definitely red.

If we were to press the eject button on your CD player, what would we find?

I think it is Pink Floyd- Echoes

Where would you go if you won the lottery?

Montana or Russia

Why those places?

Well my brother lives in Montana and they have lots of good disc golf courses out there, and I have always wanted to go to Russia.

Final question, what is you most memorable experience in a car or truck?

Well they let me drive that light blue Rousch Mustang that they have sitting over at the PreDriven Store.  Sweetest car ever. Definitely top experience, in fact it probably is my most memorable moment here at Runde’s.

We’d like to thank Marty to take some time out of his schedule to give us the quick inside glimpse of his life in a nutshell.  For fun, we asked Marty to name all of the models that Chevy makes in under 30 seconds, but that was too easy for him and he got all of the current models in like 20 seconds.  This is one Cubs fan who definitely know his Chevy products.
