Last year's fundraiser/holiday party theme was "Whiteout."

Last year’s fundraiser/holiday party theme was “Whiteout.”

Haute Hong Kong, a gala, art auction and raffle, will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, in the Grande Ballroom at Hotel Julien Dubuque.

As the primary annual fundraiser for the Dubuque Museum of Art, this event helps to sustain its programs throughout the year. Runde Auto Group is proud to be the Platinum Sponsor of this event!

The night will feature:

  • More than 35 affordable pieces of art by some of our finest local and regional artists
Click here to see the art
  • Travel and dining experiences and gift packages in a silent and live auction
  • Raffle drawings for $15,000 in cash prizes
  • A performance by Cameron Ramsey and his dance troupe
  • Incredible themed decor

This year’s theme centers around the Chinese New Year and haute couture.

“We really loved the powerful visual imagery and colors associated with this theme,” said David Schmitz, executive director of the Dubuque Museum of Art.
“Hong Kong symbolizes the meeting of Eastern and Western cultures, and we thought upscale, haute couture fashion lends itself to that.”

The theme will be well represented with Chinese lanterns and table decorations, beautiful apparel, textiles, and colors.

“It feels a little different to people this year, which is what we intended,” Schmitz said. “We wanted to shake it up a bit.”

The dress code for this Dubuque Fundraiser Event is semi-formal, cocktail attire. More than 200 locals from the Dubuque area are expected to attend.

Tickets are $50 in advance (by Nov. 9) or $60 at the door. There is also $75 patron ticket that includes a limited-edition gift with your ticket. The extra cost of that ticket goes directly to the museum.

“It is a way to maximize your donation,” Schmitz said.

Schmitz noted that there is a variety of price points on the artwork.

“If you were re-decorating your apartment or house and looking for something in the $200 price range, you could find something here for that,” he said. “There will be some pieces that go for well over $1,000, so there is wide range of media, sizes, and prices.”

Artists have the opportunity to take a 25 percent commission on their work. Schmitz said the fundraiser is a great representation of what the Dubuque Museum of Art is all about.

“The proceeds for this Dubuque Fundraiser Event go right back to supporting artists and preserving art,” he said. “We really want our fundraiser to be known for art. We could do a fundraiser that didn’t involve the sale of art, but that wouldn’t feel like us. We want to reinforce who we are and what we do every day.”
