Sharp Styling – Inside and Out

Silver new Chevy Suburban in DubuqueThe styling for the current new Suburban model is very clean and uncluttered, which is nice because this is essentially a utility vehicle even though it’s pretty much priced in a luxury vehicle price range.  One of the signature styling pieces on the front end of the vehicle is the LED daytime running lamps.  This combined with the LED headlamps give the Suburban a very sharp appearance to everyone you pass on the highway.

What you’re looking at with the Suburban is a full size 4-wheel-drive vehicle with seating for up to 9 passengers and enough room in the third row to comfortably accommodate adults.  We should point out that you’ll rarely see a 9-passenger new Suburban as the vehicle is hardly ever ordered from the factory with a front row bench seat.  Normally you’ll see two bucket seats in the front row, then captain’s chairs in the next row and this seating configuration combined with a 3-person bench seat in the third row translates into a 7-passenger overall setup.

The current model is a far cry from what the vehicle used to be in the past.  The Suburban is the longest running model in the Chevrolet lineup (or in any manufacturer’s lineup for that matter).  The first Suburban was actually introduced during the mid-1930’s.  Back then it was a full size vehicle (this was well before the term “sport utility vehicle” was coined) with three rows of seating and since there were no seatbelts in vehicles back then, it could fit as many people as one could literally cram into the vehicle.

A Wealth of Interior Space in the Chevy Suburban

The Suburban is nearly identical to the Chevy Tahoe model with the major difference being the Suburban is 15 inches longer than its length-challenged sibling.   With that 15 extra inches, Chevy increases both the rear cargo capacity and the legroom for the third row seat meaning there is substantially more room in the third row of a Suburban when compared to a Tahoe.  That could be an important buying consideration if you have a large family and you like to take long trips in your vehicle.

Power is Plentiful

Much like the Chevy Silverado, there are 3 engine choices for the new Chevy Suburban in Dubuque.  The standard engine is a 5.3 liter V8 that produces 355 horsepower.  This engine is mated to a 10 speed transmission and will give you about 16 mpg in town and around 20 mpg on the highway.  Customers can upgrade to a 6.2 liter gas engine that puts out 420 hp if they so choose.  And the third option is for diesel engine enthusiasts … a 3.0 liter inline six cylinder engine that produces 277 hp and 460 foot pounds of torque.  This marks the first time GM has offered a diesel engine for the Suburban model.

Comfort is Not Optional

The ride and comfort of the “Burban” is what you’d expect from a large SUV with an extended wheel base … extremely nice.  If you haven’t had a chance to test-drive one of these yet, please give Runde Chevrolet a call at 866-735-5200 to set up an appointment.  It won’t take long driving the new Chevy Suburban in Dubuque to find out how superior the ride is.  The seats are some of the most comfortable seats available in a new SUV and you’ll quickly find out how easily the “burb” can tackle the hills and bumpy roads in the Dubuque area.  One Runde customer recently described the ride as “buttery”.  Another customer commented that it’s the nicest riding vehicle they’ve ever been in.

Regarding interior options, you can basically equip a new Suburban with as many features and options as you’d like.  Some nice available options that we’ll quickly point out are:  4-wheel adaptive air ride suspension, Apple Carplay & Android Auto, a hitch guidance trailering camera system with up to nine available viewing angles, a power sliding center console, a heated steering wheel, first and second row heated seats, lane change alert, rear pedestrian alert, and lane keep assist with a lane departure warning.  There’s also a really thoughtful feature where a person is able to press a button and fold down both the 3rd and 2nd row seats while standing at the rear of the vehicle with the hatch open.  Being able to easily fold two rows of seating at the push of a button is definitely nice when you’re coming out of the store with a couple carts full of groceries.
