Watching an Oil Change and Learning About Cars at Runde Chevrolet

On any normal weekday, the Runde Chevrolet Service Department might see and do business with over 100 customers.  But our favorite kind of customers … and the ones who never fail to put a smile on our faces … are the ones of the shorter varietal … namely kiddos … especially ones who love learning about cars.  Seriously, there is something about kids that can just turn a negative into a positive and brighten someone’s day in a heartbeat.   This happened today as a routine oil change became a learning experience for three children at Runde Chevrolet.

Tony Thier, of Dubuque, had Sophie, Stella, and Henry with him when he stopped by for a routine oil change on their Chevy Suburban.

Tony asked their service writer, Casey Fluhr, if they could watch the oil change while they waited. Technician Al Gassman, who has worked at Runde’s for eight years, was glad to take them through the process.

“Al Gassman did an awesome job and made it a very educational experience for the kids and myself,” Tony said. “Note that we were coming in on a Saturday and I am sure Al was ready to get out of there.”

Al was in his element has he has small children of his own.  The experience was a memorable one for the children and parents Tony and Anna were thrilled.  “(It was) so much better than my kids sitting in the lobby watching the TV,” Tony said.  Their eyes were as big as snow globes as they spent some quality time learning about cars.
