Other Possible Causes

Another possible cause is that you may have left an interior light on that drained your vehicle.   Now some newer vehicles have a built-in battery run-down protection where it will prevent something that was accidentally “left on” from draining your battery.  Unfortunately a lot of vehicles do not have this sort of protection technology built in.

It’s good to have a portable jumper box on hand or jumper cables so you can try to get your vehicle started on your own.  If it does start up, then it’s a good idea to take it directly to a vehicle service center in Dubuque and ask them to test the battery to see if it’s still good.

If you’re vehicle stalls shortly after jump starting it, then there is a possibility that the fault could lie with your alternator.  A trained technician at a service center will be able to test both the alternator and the battery to determine what’s causing the problem.
