Watch Credité Velo-Trek Race in Galena!

If you haven’t yet seen Credité Velo-Trek in action, you will have a chance soon when they race in the Tour of Galena, Friday-Sunday, June 5-7!

The professional cycling development team, based out of Dubuque, has had some good performances so far this season.

“As a professional development team, our goals differ somewhat from a team whose sole objective is to win races,” said Dave Hartig, the team’s business director. “In the sport of road cycling, the step between top amateur and professional is a big one and often has as much to do with athletes adapting to the lifestyle (on the road constantly) than it does raw talent. So Galena will be a nice opportunity for our riders to stay in one area, close to the team’s home base, and showcase another of our great sponsors, Runde Auto Group!”

While the team has not participated in the Tour of Galena before, some of the riders have raced it with their former teams earlier in their careers. The race is unique since it is a multi-day event with challenging topography.

Credite Velo team rider making a turn“As with any sport, greater familiarity with the nuances of road cycling make for more entertaining viewing,” Hartig said. “But for even casual spectators, the Sunday Criterium in downtown Galena will provide a lot of excitement. Criterium racing is similar to Formula 1 auto racing on street circuits (public roads). Multiple fast-paced laps of a challenging circuit, a repair pit, and lots of tactical maneuvering amongst the riders and teams are all characteristics of criterium racing. And it often gets physical!”

Teams will be participating from regional areas like Chicago, the Twin Cities, St. Louis, Madison, Milwaukee, and the Quad Cities.

Riders include Ross White, of Arcadia, WI; Evan Hartig, of Dubuque, IA; Andrew Buntz, of Des Moines, IA; Tim Savre, of Glencoe, MN; and Matt Zimmer, of De Witt, IA. Click here to see more information about each team member.

Runde Auto Group is proud to be a sponsor of Credité Velo-Trek and to provide a blue Chevrolet Sonic for the team’s
use as a caravan/rally car, as well as a 15-passenger van. Watch for our logo on their bike shorts and team jerseys as they fly by!
