When to Replace Your Windshield Wipers

Runde Chevrolet seen through a rain coated windshieldHow are your windshield wipers? This rainy weather is a great reminder to replace them if needed!

You should replace your wipers if:

  • They are streaking, hazing, clicking, or smearing when wiping the windshield
  • The wipers blades have missing pieces or uneven edges
  • They are pulling away from the windshield
  • Cracks are visible on the wiper blade

Pat Timmerman, service manager at Runde Chevrolet, said most people replace their wiper blades annually.

“The obvious reason is so they can see well in the rain and snow,” he said. “But also when wiper blades are damaged and chattering on the glass, they can scratch the windshield.”

Runde Auto Group has AC Delco wiper blades (Advantage and OE lines), which cost $17.95 and up per blade, plus labor.

This is also a good time to top-off your windshield washer fluid, which is included at Runde Auto Group with an oil change as part the 27-point inspection. Here is Runde Auto Group’s service menu.

Our finance and insurance departments recently started offering a new product that will help keep your windshield clear no matter the weather – Diamon-Fusion.

Diamon-Fusion is a protective coating added to the windshield that makes it resistant to small road debris, preventing chips and cracks, improves the clarity and visibility, reduces night glare, reduces pitting and scratching, and protects against acid rain and water spots.

Diamon-Fusion also repels water, ice, and snow, making it easier to see when it is raining or snowing, but also making it simpler for your windshield wipers to clean.

The windshield-strengthening property is guaranteed, so if your windshield becomes starred or cracked from road hazard damage during the time of your agreement, Diamon-Fusion will repair or replace your windshield. Learn more about it here.
