Harrison Runde Dives into the Family Business

In 1927, Alfred Runde opened the East Dubuque Garage in downtown East Dubuque.

Fast forward 94 years and his great-grandson, Harrison Runde, is taking a seat at the table in the family business, which has since expanded to include four car dealerships.

Harrison, who graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Business Management, is starting his career as a salesperson and assistant to his father, Greg Runde.

While attending school, Harrison dabbled in the dealership’s washrack, IT, service and parts departments.

“What made me want to get into sales was it was something I’ve never really done before, and I think I could be a good fit,” he said.

Harrison is enthusiastic about joining the team at Runde Chevrolet.

“My dad has taught me a lot about the business and I plan to keep soaking up that up like a sponge,” Harrison said. “I’ve wanted to be a part of the family business nearly my whole life, so it feels great! I know there are plenty of things to learn and work to do around here, so I’m looking forward to getting into as much as I can.”

Born and raised in East Dubuque, Harrison enjoys fishing, cheering on his favorite sports teams, and hanging out with his friends and family. His parents are Greg and Julie Runde and he has two sisters, Ella and Franchesca. Plus the family dog, Daisy, a Blue Heeler/Beagle mix.

Harrison scuba diving

Harrison is also a certified scuba diver.

“I have actually dove a few areas in the Midwest,” he said. “There are a lot more places to scuba dive around here than most people think!”

His favorite vehicle is the Chevy Silverado – which incidentally is also one of the most popular at Runde Auto Group.

“I really like the Trailboss trim package, I think it’s probably one of the sharpest looking trucks out there,” he said.

Harrison is looking forward to continuing to learn the ins and outs of the dealership and to make customers for life along the way.

“I want to help people find the right vehicle for them, and to make the sales process easy and comfortable,” he said.
