Ford Maverick is the pickup that might convert you to a “truck person.”
Ford recently revealed the all-new 2022 Maverick, the first standard full-hybrid pickup in America and the most fuel-efficient truck on the market.
This compact four-door unibody truck has a projected EPA-estimated rating of 40 mpg city, seats five adults, and starts under $20,000 MSRP!
“Maverick challenges the status quo and the stereotypes of what a pickup truck can be. We believe it will be compelling to a lot of people who never before considered a truck,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager, in a press release.
It has a projected range of 500 miles on one tank of gas.
The Maverick – which will be smaller than the Ford Ranger – is equipped with a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor.
It also has an available EcoBoost 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that makes 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, giving you more power, a higher towing capacity, and the availability of all-wheel-drive.
With the hybrid powertrain, Maverick can tow upto 2,000 pounds and has a maximum payload of 1,500 pounds (a couple jet skis). With the Ecoboost engine and 4K towing package, it is rated to 4,000 pounds (small camping trailers/boats).
The interior is made of durable, easy-to-clean materials and it features a touchscreen panel, available wireless charging, standard storage bins under the rear seats, and an available moonroof.
The Maverick’s 4 ½-foot Flexbed is a DIY-er’s dream – flexible and customizable. It includes several slots designed to fit pieces of lumber for homemade racks and storage dividers, as well as pre-threaded holes for owners to mount items without drilling into the sheet metal, plus two 12-volt outlets and storage cubbies.
There is a 12-volt access point behind a panel where owners can wire in their own extra bed lights or other accessories as well.
The Ford Integrated Tether System has a slot on the back of the front console that allows you to create solutions in the backseat to meet any needs. An available accessory package includes cupholders, a storage or trash bin, cord organizer, double hook for grocery bags and purses, and under-seat storage dividers.
The Maverick Lariat First Edition will feature exclusive graphics, a black roof, a Tonneau cover, and exclusive wheels. It will only be available with certain paint colors, including Carbonized Gray, Area 51, and Rapid Red.
It will come in three trims: XL, XLT, and Lariat. The 2022 Ford Maverick is expected to arrive at dealerships this fall.
