Chevrolet’s car lineup is getting a face lift for 2019. The Malibu and Spark will feature more sporty styling, enhanced features, and a wider variety of choices on trims, packages, and models.
“We are committed to offering consumers a full lineup of products with fresh designs, new technologies and efficient powertrain options,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. Vice President of Chevrolet, in a press release. “The investments we have made in Spark and Malibu will help position the brand for success in competitive segments that still make up a significant part of the total industry.”
All three vehicles will include Chevy’s signature lighting on the front and back. The front ends are re-designed, but the vehicles still have their athletic body sides.
“The re-styled face of Chevy cars for 2019 is characterized by a family-like appearance, with each model honoring its Chevrolet heritage while showing off expressive designs,” said John Cafaro, executive director of Global Chevrolet Design, in a press release.
Malibu
One new offering is the first-ever Malibu RS. The sporty sedan includes blacked-out styling including a black sport grille, black bowtie emblems, a rear spoiler, 18-inch machined wheels, and dual-outlet exhaust.
The interior features a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, black cloth seats, and standard 8-inch diagonal touchscreen for the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system. A new CVT transmission is standard on models with the 1.5L turbocharged engine.
Spark
The front-end of the Spark will change to match the looks of the Malibu. There will be new exterior color options, revised interior trim, and an additional available active safety feature: Low Speed Forward Automatic Breaking, which can help drivers prevent or reduce the severity of low-speed front-end collisions by applying the brakes or enhancing the driver’s braking.
The 2019 Malibu and Spark are expected to be at dealerships in summer 2018.
