Hold on to your seats: Dodge has revealed what it says is the fastest production car in the world, the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon.
This street-legal muscle car has 808 horsepower (!!!!) and 717 lb-ft of torque on 91
octane gas. The track version has 840 hp and 770 lb-ft of torque on 100-plus high-octane race fuel.
It gets from 0 to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds, thanks to its supercharged 6.2L HEMI Demon V8 engine. To get from 0 to 30 mph, it takes 1 second.
The Challenger SRT Demon has enough power that it can do a wheelie when it takes off. The Guinness World Records certified it as the first front-wheel lift in a production car — the front tires were 2.92 feet off the ground!
The vehicle will appear in the film “Fate of the Furious” in theaters this week. Just 3,000 of the limited-edition, single-model-year Challenger SRT Demon will be produced this summer in the United States. There will be 300 in Canada. Dealers will receive the vehicles in the fall.
Available options include:
- You can add a front passenger seat and a rear seat for $1 each. They were removed to save weight.
- “Front-runner” wheels for use at drag strips
- Foam case for the front-runner wheels
- Track tools to change the wheels
Everyone who buys the Challenger SRT Demon gets a day-long session at the Bob Bondurant School of High-Performance Driving in Chandler, Ariz. They also receive a personalized “Demon Crate.” Each one includes a torque wrench, cordless impact wrench, hydraulic floor jack, tool bag, fender cover and tire-pressure gauge.
The sales staff at Runde Auto Group of Manchester is excited about the possibility of selling one of these. You can read more about the car here: http://www.dodge.com/demon.html
