When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26
Where: Matter: A Learning Playground, 140 E. 9th St. in Dubuque
You and your children are invited to a fun day of creativity and learning free of charge, thanks to Runde Auto Group! Matter Adventures offers something for everyone and is especially fun for kids ages 3 to 12. There is plenty to do for older children as well, like pottery painting or canvas painting. All activities are indoors, so please join us no matter the weather.

Here’s a look at the activities at Matter:
Lego Laboratory
- Lego Exploration: Build with more than 1,000 pounds of Legos. Pieces are not
available for purchase. - Runde Speedway: Build a Lego car and race it down the Runde Auto Group Speedway.
- Gravity Challenge: Build Lego creations from the wall.
Art Laboratory
- Pottery Painting: Choose a piece of pottery and paint it. Pieces start at $5.99. They will fire your pieces and call you when they are ready (usually 7-10 days).
- Canvas Painting: Choose from a variety of canvas sizes and create a self-guided painting project. Pieces start at $4.99. Paints are washable and you can take the painting home same day.
- Wooden Shapes: Create an animal or superhero from fun wooden shapes. Use markers, stamps, colored pencils, and more to decorate. Shapes start at $4.99 each.
Magnetism Laboratory
- Vertical Wall Maze: Create a maze on the wall and see how adjustments affect speed.
- Magnetic Designs: Using a rainbow of triangular magnets, create your masterpiece.
- Magnetic Storytelling: Tell a story using magnetic words and pictures.
Engineering Laboratory
- Giant Blocks: Design and construct life-size structures using giant blocks. Blocks are safe for all ages, including toddlers.
