The new Chevy Colorado has arrived at Runde’s, a Dubuque area Chevrolet dealership.
What Chevrolet has labeled a “truck for all seasons and occasions,” this mid-size pickup has practically everything: good fuel efficiency and best-in-class towing capabilities. These are all things that people look for when shopping for a truck in the Dubuque area: Fuel efficiency because people don’t like to pay a lot for gas in Dubuque, yet many Dubuquers own a boat and need a truck with power to tow it down the the Mississippi River during the summer. And at Runde’s we often hear customers saying how they’d like to own or lease a truck, but they don’t want to drive, fuel-up, and have to park a full-size truck. Well, the new Colorado with it’s smaller exterior dimensions might be the perfect solution for people who don’t want a full-size Silverado.
The Colroado’s V-6 engine offers an estimated 26 miles per gallon on the highway and it’s rated to tow up to 7000 lbs.
Owners of the New Chevy Colorado will enjoy all the perks of a truck with the comfort and ride of a car. The quietness of the new truck is mostly due to a thicker windshield, triple door seals, wind and road noise reduction in the truck’s cabin. I remember last summer when there was all that construction going on with Highway 20 in Dubuque, there were days where I really wished I had a quieter vehicle.
This new truck rides pretty much as smooth on the highway as it does hauling a trailer or going off-road and that’s important in and around Dubuque … especially up on the bluffs overlooking the river where bumpy roads with potholes can quickly make it feel like you’ve gone off-road!
Passengers will have no trouble stretching out their legs in the Colorado, because even though the pick-up is nearly six inches narrower than a Silverado 1500, it has a much more spacious interior.
“Our strategy is simple: meet the needs of the broadest possible customer base, and let them choose precisely the right truck to meet their needs,” said Mark Reuss, General Motors executive vice president and president of GM North America, when the truck was first unveiled. “The all-new Colorado benefits from the solid foundation established by the Chevy Silverado, and it reinvents the midsize truck while reinvigorating the segment at the same time.”
Another amenity on the interior of the Colorado is the Chevrolet MyLink 8-inch diagonal color touch-screen … yes, touch screen. The center console also includes a USB port to charge your tablet or phone.
The Colorado also offers 4G high-speed Wi-Fi with the ability to connect up to seven devices online!
There are also many available accessories for drivers to personalize their Colorado, but one to take note of is definitely the GearOn storage system. It’s basically a two-tier loading system with a bed-divider that organizes and secures all your belongings.
With regards to safety, the Chevrolet Colorado is equipped with standard OnStar for the first 6 months of ownership. In the event of a traffic accident, the tuck will automatically shut off the fuel pump. It’ll also unlock all doors and turn on interior and hazard lights for increased safety.
The new Chevy Colorado is also equipped with a rear-vision camera to help prevent accidents while backing up.
In a big nutshell, the new Chevy Colorado seems like a junior version of the Chevrolet Silverado.
“The new Colorado’s design brings a youthful breath of fresh air to the midsize truck segment and puts a progressive spin on Chevrolet’s true-truck styling,” said Ken Parkinson, executive director of Chevrolet Design. “It’s like the younger, more eager brother of the Silverado – a Chevy truck through and through, with great zeal and a spirit of adventure.”
