One of our relatively recent additions to the Runde team is Mariah Diedrich. We just about caused mass mayhem by dragging her away from her phone, but Mariah gladly took a few moments to allow us to get to know her a little better.
How long have you worked for Runde’s and what do you do here?
Um, it’ll be going on a year. I can’t remember if I was hired in August or September. I work in the accounting department and do accounts payable.
What’s the best thing about your job?
The people I work with. Except for Becky.
We understand. What is the worst thing about your job?
Being interviewed by those annoying blog people. Just kidding … I’d probably have to say Becky.
Do you have a favorite spot in the Tri-State area?
I live in Shullsburg about 40 minutes away in Wisconsin, so it’s like I don’t really go anywhere.
What’s your favorite spot in Shullsburg then?
I don’t really go anywhere, I don’t know. I mean I don’t have a favorite place to go out to eat or anything like that.
Nope.
If you could drive any vehicle, which one would you pick?
A vehicle? Um, I’ve always been a 2-door kind of girl, cause I’m so small and short, ya know? So I’ve just always drove small vehicles. Well, I’d love to drive a truck, but ya know, could you see a 5 foot 2 girl driving a truck, kind of odd. But I couldn’t pick a favorite truck. Of course I could pick a Lamborghini but who honestly wants one of them? I’m not like a tree hugger, but 30 mpg is good for me. I don’t know, I don’t know vehicles that well.
Would you describe yourself as introverted, extroverted, or somewhere in between – like limbo-verted?
I’m kind of out-going, so extroverted.
Do you have family in the area? Are they cool?
Ya, they’re all in the area besides a couple of them. Everybody thinks my dad is pretty cool. He’s a high school math teacher and so like wherever I go there’s usually someone who’s like ohhhh you’re Mr. D’s daughter. And when I started working here Sue Hanger told me about how my dad taught her son.
Where did you go to school?
I went to Platteville, Business Administration with an emphasis in management.
Do you have any hobbies that you do regularly?
I horseback ride. I ride horses.
Is that why the cowboy boots are so significant?
Yes! They’re a big deal; I even have spurs in my car if you want to see them.
And why can’t you just wear tennis shoes while riding a horse?
Shoes don’t work! They aren’t safe, boots are safer. When you’re on a trail ride and you see people who are riding in sandals or tennis shoes, you know they aren’t really hard-core horse people, because they don’t know that you’re not supposed to wear those things.
4.
How old are they?
25, 22, 9, and 2. Three of them ride, but the other one isn’t trained or broken yet. You can still ride the other two even though they’re old. Three quarter horses and one Morgan. One paint, one chestnut, and one Palomino.
Which one’s the Morgan?
The 22-year-old, She’s a bay. Do you know what a bay is? (No.) Black socks, black mane, black tail.
What is your favorite movie of all time? How many times have you watched it?
If I had to say the thing that just popped into my head it’d have to be Gone with the Wind. I’m an old school movie person like that. “Paint Your Wagon” — There’s a song from Paint Your Wagon called “They Call the Wind Mariah”. You’ll have to Google or YouTube it, trust me! It’s old school. It’s one of those that you can keep watching it and it never gets old.
What is the worst movie you’ve ever seen?
I can’t even think of the name of the movie, but I can picture it. I hate scary movies so I don’t watch scary movies. Like a man came out in the very opening scene, and he comes like running out of the house like on fire and I’m, like we aren’t watching this movie anymore… I don’t like scary movies.
What is currently in the cd player of your vehicle?
I’m a country girl… its Eric Church, Carolina.
Would you rather ride on a train, dance in the rain, or feel no pain?
They’re not really related at all, dance in the rain, I don’t know.
If you had one month left to live, what would you spend it doing?
Hmm, of course I’d probably spend a lot of time with my family and I would probably ride a lot. Other than that I like being outdoors, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and stuff like that.
Do you live on a farm?
Yep!
If Mariah Diedrich had a time machine and it worked, what date in time would she go back to first and why?
What date in time? I always say I wish I was born in a different era. Like the Old West, I would like so fit in perfectly back then. But I’m trying to think of something specific back then. Can you help me out? (I don’t know? Like the Oregon Trail?) Yes!!! You know like Annie Oakley? I would be a perfect Annie Oakley, cause I can shoot a gun for precision and everything, and a bow and arrow and everything, and I ride horses, I would be perfect back then.
Lady Gaga or Black Eyed Peas?
I’ve never jumped on the Lady Gaga bandwagon, so I’ll go with Black Eyed Peas.
DiCaprio or Hanks?
Tom Hanks. Leo is prettier but Tom’s funnier. You know like if I had to spend a day with someone, you know just because he’s prettier doesn’t mean I would want to spend the day with him.
Los Aztecas or Carlos O’Kelly’s?
I don’t eat Mexican. I don’t get out much, if we do go out to eat it’s always to somewhere we’ve been before and we know we like it. And even then, I just don’t have time to go out to eat.
Chicago or New York?
Neither, I’m not a city girl.
Have you ever been to either?
No, well the O’Hare airport. Um, no, I won’t even drive in the city. I mean, driving, one time I got lost driving to Galena, ok, (laughing) I ended up in Dubuque while I was trying to get to Galena. Stop lights and stop signs and everything, I’m just not into that, you know what I mean? So neither, give me Colorado or North Dakota, something wide open.
Win the lottery or become President?
Well can I win the lottery and then run for president? Gosh, I don’t know. Either way, it would stink. If you win the lottery people are like, “Oh, give me money.” And then if you’re president you’re never right, you know someone always thinks you’re wrong. So it’s like what’s the lesser of two evils? Probably win the lottery.
Red, yellow or green?
Like a favorite color? I don’t have one. I have never had a favorite color my whole life. Probably green.
We’d like to thank Mariah Diedrich for spending time with us “blog interviewers” today. We thought she’d pick the color green on the last question because green means “go”. Mariah Diedrich always seems to be on the go and she’s definitely a go-getter. We’re glad she’s working for Runde Auto Group as she brings a positive attitude to work everyday of the week — well, every work day.
