Carl Denlinger – Chatting about his Sharp New Ride from Runde Chevrolet

Carl and Louise Denlinger in front of Carl's new ride from Runde ChevroletWe were outside and Carl got out of his old truck… Unlike most people, however, Carl didn’t go running to his New Ride from Runde Chevrolet in excitement. Instead Carl slowly got out of the driver’s door and gave the truck a sentimental final farewell before heading into the Runde Chevrolet building to finish up the paperwork.

I was particularly busy before the interview with Carl Denlinger who was with his mother, Louise Denlinger (both born and raised south of Dubuque) but our chat seemed to put me in a great mood, read on to find see why.

Hey guys, while your salesman, finishes up the transaction would you mind sharing your experience at Runde’s with the rest of the world?
Sure… and actually our salesman is fixing my old license plate… someone backed into my old truck and it got all bent up…

Oh… well then, might as well make it look nice for the new truck.
Exactly.

Carl with his old truckSpeaking of your old truck, you seem to be pretty attached… is it just getting to the point where it’s no longer running right?
Yea, it was getting to the point where I had to put more money into her than what it was worth. It’s hard to let go because of all of my great memories with it. I got it around when I joined the military in 1999, bought it with 21 thousand miles on it and if I would have driven it for another two thousand miles I would have put 100,000  miles into it.

What new ride from Runde Chevrolet did you go with?
It’s a used Chevy Silverado.

Do you use the truck for work, or leisure?
I work concrete; if I need to haul anything a truck is needed.

mock up of Carl being a DJWell hopefully the new truck will be a great new companion.
Yea, I think it will be a good truck.

So how did you hear about Runde’s?
My family has actually been going here quite often. I have two sisters whose husbands both buy vehicles from Runde’s.  My brother buys here and my cousin actually just bought a vehicle today. We ran into him on our way in.

If you were to rank your experience here at Rundes on a scale of 1-10, what would you give it?
I’d give it a solid nine – no troubles no worries.

Are you married?
Yes, married with two kids, another one on the way. One of the reasons why I needed to get a new truck

Do you remember your first date with your wife?
(Starts choking up) Yep. It was July 17th, 2002 at Music in the Park. I just got done putting speakers in my truck (hence the reason I have a lot of attachments to it) when I met her and from there we went out for a great night.

What do you do in your free-time?
I’m actually a DJ, I’m starting a Dubuque chapter from a company in Cedar Rapids.

How long do you DJ for on an average session?
Typically it will be around 4-5 hours. I also make videos of my DJ-ing.

You work with any particular genre?
Nope, I play what I think the crowd is feeling, it can range from hip hop to slow songs. My personal favorite singer is Jason LD.

What do you like to do around the area?
I can’t say drink beer, can I?
You just did.

How ’bout you Louise?
I work two part-time jobs.  In my free-time I like to play with my grand kids.

Do you have a favorite movie?
Carl: I’d have to say CARS because that’s the only movie my daughter watches.

Louise: I like the Golden Girls.

If you were to win the lottery what would you do with the money?
Pay off all my bills then live off of the interest.

What is one thing that you’d like to do if there where no obstacles in life?
Louise: I’d like to go to Alaska, it looks really pretty in all the pictures I’ve seen.
Carl: I’d like to go see the  Aurora Borealis

What is one invention you can’t live without?
The way I live I’d have to have a vehicle.

Was the truck the only vehicle you had?
No, we also got a Trailblazer from a different local dealership, looking back – they hosed me.

It seems like no matter where we go, something is wrong with other dealerships, the financing or service people aren’t friendly, they don’t give good deals or something is wrong with the vehicle. But here at Runde’s, it is the complete package, excellent.

Thanks guys, glad to hear you had a good experience here. We like to treat our customers like our friends. Enjoy your new ride from Runde Chevrolet, go out there and create some more great memories!
