Michael Steiner from Potosi Wisconsin is one of the nicest college students I have ever had the privilege of getting to know. Recently, Michael sat down with me for a quick interview so that any wide web surfers like you could get to know him a little.
Alright Michael, so why don’t you start by telling us what brought you to Runde’s today?
I bought a Ford Focus.
What led you to that car?
Mine kind of went out on me. The price was right and the miles are right for the Focus. It’s a good car.
What are you going to use the car for?
Pretty much going back and forth from school to work.
Why did you look to Runde’s instead of other dealerships?
A couple days ago I drove through all the lots in Dubuque and Lancaster, WI. Turned out that Runde’s had a couple of cars that caught my eye more than the others. The sales people weren’t pushy at all, so I didn’t mind going with them.
What did you think of your sales person?
He’s really good … very honest. I’ve dealt with other car dealers that were really pushy but here at Runde’s, he was very straight-forward with me.
What do you do for a living?
I’m a waiter at the Potosi Brewing Company.
I’ve heard about that place. A lot of people I’ve talked to really liked and highly recommend that restaurant. So you are from Potosi Wisconsin I assume?
Yep. Small town just south of Lancaster, WI.
What do you like to do in Potosi?
In Potosi? There’s really not a whole lot to do so we usually go to Dubuque to go out to movies and eat. There’s only about 700 people who live in Potosi and there’s about another 300 that live just down the road in Tennyson. It’s pretty much just like one town. I’m actually not really sure why Potosi and Tennyson are considered 2 separate towns. There’s really not much to do in Tennyson either, but the towns are actually really pretty … especially in the fall when the leaves start to change. And you’re right about the Potosi Brewing Company. It’s an awesome restaurant with a very diverse menu.
What is the most recent movie you saw in a theater?
A Haunting in Connecticut – It’s a really good movie.
What do you like to do on vacation?
I like to boat. Mainly I like to boat on the Mississippi River with my family on their boat.
Been anywhere out of the ordinary?
I went to Florida – it was a lot of fun.
I went there, too… but instead of having fun I got 3rd degree sunburns…
Oh… sorry.
What school are you going to?
I go to the University of Platteville for Business, I’ll be a senior.
What do you plan on doing with your degree?
I actually really like the hospitality field — either restaurants or hotels, something like that.
Do you have a family?
Just my Mom and Dad.
What makes your life different than others?
I’m a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, also known as TKE. We do a lot of community service around Platteville. We held a teeter-totter-a-thon with another sorority on campus to raise money for needy families in the area. During the winter we shovel sidewalks for people who aren’t able to.
Usually I think of frat houses and don’t think “community service”. That’s pretty cool that TKE does something to give back to the community. So do you plan on keeping in contact with TKE after you graduate?
Oh, I will defiantly keep in contact with TKE, it’s the largest international fraternity in the world. Once you graduate, you become an alumni and keep contributing that way.
What’s your favorite TV show?
Family Guy.
How about music?
My favorite band is Incubus. I like all music … country, rap, etc.
If you were to win the lottery what would you do with the money?
I would save half and invest the other half into real estate.
You wouldn’t go out and splurge it?
No way! I horde money. I like having money. When it comes to spending I’m fairly conservative, I’m kind of surprised I just bought a car.
Thank you Michael! Good luck in your studies and enjoy your new Focus! Have a safe trip back to Potosi and we hope your upcoming semester is your best one yet!
