Buick Lucerne — Half Car, Half Human

For anyone who hasn’t taken a close look at the Buick Lucerne, this article is for you.  New technology has been a big part of vehicle purchases in the last decade, and Buick stood up to the challenge when they designed their Lucerne. How many accidents occur due to blind spots or lack of visibility? Drivers are 3 times more likely to have an accident changing lanes than they are if they stay in one lane. The engineers at Buick understood this concept, and added a solution to the Lucerne.

The Side Blind Zone Alert system is set up to notify the driver of a vehicle in their blind spot. You are driving down the interstate and want to pass a slow-moving tractor (in our case here in the Midwest), and you put your turn-signal on. As you start to veer into the passing lane, there is a vehicle sitting near your rear bumper, but you can’t see them. Your Lucerne has a laser system that will trigger an alert in your side mirror, letting you know there is a car there.

Buick also added a Lane Departure Warning. All of us have been on road trips where you get about an hour from home, and the sleep deprivation kicks in. All of a sudden, you can’t keep your eyes open. No worries…The Lucerne has another camera system that reads where the white broken lines are in relation to your tires. When you get too close to the lane dividers, it will beep and trigger a light until you change the location in your lane.

These two options are available in the Buick Lucerne CXL, CXL Special Edition, and CXS models. They come in a package called the Ultra Confidence Package, which also includes everything in the Driver Confidence Package (Rear Parking Assist, theft-deterrent system, Electronic Stability Control System with brake assist, RainSense wipers, headed washer fluid, and remote vehicle start).
