GM said the Lucerne will be among more than 15 of its models with flex-fuel capability for the 2009 model year, up from 11 models this year. Some vehicles that currently offer an E85 compatible motor include: select models of the Silverado, Suburban & Tahoe, Express, and Impala.
In a statement, GM described ethanol as “a cleaner-burning alternative fuel that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 23 percent compared with gasoline.”
Many people currently believe that ethanol used in high blends like E85 offers the best present-time solution to offset the recent increase in world oil prices.
The Buick Lucerne was originally introduced in 2006 and served as a replacement for the Buick LeSabre which was produced from 1959-2005.
